  GSI Outdoors         1996  – 2004     Since 1985, GSI Outdoors has become known as the leader in Outdoor Cookware innovation. In house design & exclusive manufacturing have lead to an ever growing line of outdoor cookware, tableware and accessories.

1996–2004

Sales & Marketing Director

Branding, Product Development, Art Director, Public Relations
Sales Management working directly with independent representatives, major national accounts, buying groups, national and international distributors.
With both GSI’s Outdoor and Gourmet Cookware divisions, I was responsible for developing and establishing marketing programs, packaging, catalogs and newsletters. Using my experience to create systems that further organize all facets of the corporation—
especially in the areas of customer service and warehouse methodologies.
I worked with international vendors in Asia, Mexico and Europe to coordinate purchasing needs and production methodologies.


  designWorks! of Tahoe  
     1990  – 1996     My Tahoe based think tank offered Marketing, Product Development, and graphic art design services to numerous Outdoor Industry companies including… 
  CMI, GSI Outdoors, Johnson Camping,  Katadyn  of Switzerland,   
 Kenyon, Suunto U.S.A., Timberline, Timex & Vasque. 
 I installed and supervised a leading edge computer pre-press network of hardware & software. 
 I produced and photographed numerous seasonal brochures & catalogs on location in the Tahoe region. 
 As a consultant to numerous companies I had the opportunity to experience to thrive in a range of manufacturers & management styles. 
 Products and packaging of my design are featured in major retail locations throughout the world.    designWorks! of Tahoe

1990–1996

President

My Tahoe based think tank offered Marketing, Product Development, and graphic art design services to numerous Outdoor Industry companies including—
CMI, GSI Outdoors, Johnson Camping, Katadyn of Switzerland,
Kenyon, Suunto U.S.A., Timberline, Timex & Vasque.
I installed and supervised a leading-edge computer pre-press network of hardware & software.
I produced and photographed numerous seasonal brochures & catalogs on location in the Tahoe region.
As a consultant to numerous companies, I had the opportunity to experience and thrive in a range of manufacturers & management styles.
Products and packaging of my design are featured in major retail locations throughout the world.


  Adventure 16  
     1983 –   1990        Under my direction, Adventure 16’s Wholesale division expanded to servicing over 2,700 dealers nationally. With the support of my team, we conceived numerous trendsetting service and sales programs including “same day shipping” with an efficient warehousing system that targeted six time turn with excellent in-stock availability.  
I produced and photographed our annual catalog, monthly newsletters and numerous other graphic arts projects. 
Supervised the installation of a main frame computer that handled financial and dealer service functions for the entire corporation. Adventure 16

1983–1990

Vice-President

Under my direction, Adventure 16’s Wholesale division expanded to servicing over 2,700 dealers nationally.   Black Ice Inc       1978  –  1983       Duties included those of Operations & National Sales Manager, Advertising Director,  
 VP of Retail Operations and Member of the Board of Directors. 
 I was directly responsible for sales, direction of independent representatives as well as marketing and advertising for four divisions. 
 Financial responsibilities included pro-formas, budgets, banking relations, line of credit, accounting supervision and the bottom line. 
 Product design and development, trade show management and production of wholesale and retail mail order catalogs. Black Ice Inc

  Granite Stairway Mountaineering       1973  –  1978      
 Retail Sales- Backpacking, climbing, mountaineering & cross-country/alpine ski equipment. My basic duties included… sales and rental program management, display & fixture design, inventory control, daily cash counts, restocking and sales analysis. 

  Retail Store Manager- I was responsible for sales analysis and trend studies, advertising, displays, cash counts, deposits, rentals and the complete redesigning of the stores interior and exterior. In addition   I shared the buying duties for our four retail store chain.

In Buying, I was responsible for purchases in both Hardgoods and Softgoods, I developed a retail mail order catalog with a creative writing, photography and design style. I developed an efficient inventory-backorder and restocking program to improve our turn. In early 1978, I produced Granite Stairway's first full wholesale catalog featuring a unique selection of quality outdoor accessories. As a member of the Board of Directors, I initiated actions to further advance the success of both the retail and wholesale divisions. Granite Stairway Mountaineering
