It was a bit of a celebration, I had just completed a criss-cross route down the length of Costa Rica’s Nicoya Peninsula.
I work up early, the locals had mentioned hiking along the surf at low tide to find “El Charro Falls” which cascade right onto the sands of Cocolito Beach.
After a couple hours in the hot sun, I reached a rocky point that jutted out into the Gulf of Nicoya.
It forced me to hike inland, at first all seemed well, but then I started to head north away from the beach into the jungle.
Determined to find the Falls, I cut back in a “Westerly” direction, my little trail fading towards the beach.
I could see a cliff ahead with the blue water beyond.
As I pushed my way past the last shrubs to the edge it opened up to this view of my own private beach.
I spent much of the day next to this solo palm… the kind of secluded tropical playa we all dream of finding!
