It was a successful business trip, driving down the Overseas Highway 110 miles to meet the buyer for margaritaville.com
Working in the Outdoor Industry, I’ve been to a lot of cool places,
but in this office everyone had a guitar behind their desk!
“Business in Key West concluded,” I enquired about the sights.
It turned out that she was close to a long time friend of Jimmy’s who himself was a local fly fishing guide.
She shared a few local favorites to add to my list…
Captain Tony’s Saloon, Duval Street, Mallory Square, the Southernmost Point Buoy
& Ernest Hemingway’s casa.
Most every magical place right from the lyrics of a Jimmy Buffett song.
After a Cheeseburger in Paradise, a couple Pirates Punches & a bit of sleep…
An early morning Cuban coffee as I headed out fly fishing for tarpon…
We saw hundreds that day… they’re fast & huge- as big as a marlin!
Giant Tarpon Eyes, the diameter of a DVD staring as they pass close by the hull of the tiny flats boat.
This region is known for Legendary Salt Water Fly Fishing…
Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, Jack Crevalle, Barracuda & Pompano.
My catch of the day was a 9 foot Lemon Shark on a 12 weight fly rod, an interesting catch & release indeed!
Captured in 1999 on Kodachrome 25, Nikon F3, Nikkor 80-200mm zoom
